About Us ... An Overview
STEAM was a program from 2015-2020 with many elements unique to Downey Unified School District.
2015-2016 STEAM Team
STEAM is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

(From 2015-2020)
The STEAM team collaborates to create and adapt curriculum for DUSD elementary school students. Our STEM curriculum is based on Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and our arts curriculum is based on Meet the Masters. Art is also integrated through exploration of music, movement, photography, fine arts, and more.

Each STEAM teacher has the privilege of guest teaching in 25 or 26 classes across the 13 elementary schools in Downey Unified. Lessons are 90 minutes packed with critical thinking - both to problem-solve and to create!
